Watt Watchers of Texas is here to educate Texas students about how to be energy efficient in and out of school. For many years Watt Watchers has been giving organizations and clubs ideas for projects they can do in their schools and communities.. We don't expect you to do it alone and that is why we are releasing our Real Projects in the Real World with Real Results Handbook -so that you can make a resolution to improve your school and community by doing projects with real results. While it can be fun to decorate posters about energy for your school and make recycled crafts, there are many projects out there that take the same amount of time and can save your school district a lot of money and save our planet from a lot of pollution. Watt Watchers wants y'all to step up to the plate and get involved in saving our planet by doing these real projects with real results. Don't stop doing those short and simple projects. We have also included a lot of ideas for those projects because they are SHORT and SIMPLE. This new tool will include instructions on doing Lighting Audits in your school. This is a project that has the potential to save thousands of energy dollars for your school and it can all be started by a simple student audit of the lighting system, presented to the administration in your school or district. Another project: getting other Watt Watchers programs going in your district. You know how much it has helped your school, so why not spread the information to the schools that feed into your high school. It is a very simple project for your school because you already know how to run a successful Watt Watchers patrol. You just need to locate your old middle school and elementary school teachers and share the program with them and then train their students - so simple, but it has huge results. The project handbook will include a section on short and simple projects, in addition to Real Projects. This section will give you less intense projects like checking tire pressure in cars, doing poster campaigns, a series of announcements educating staff and students about ways to save energy, and much more. So, between the Real Projects and Short and Simple Projects you should have more than a year's worth of activities at your fingertips with this great handbook. Watt Watchers will update this handbook every year to give you more project ideas so that you can see Real Results in your school. Send us your ideas and we may include them in future editions. |
